Abstract
This paper discusses the application of thetraveldemand model of similar cities groups from theCampinasMetropolitan Region by means of their economiccharacteristics. The cities groups were obtained from thestatistical technique of multivariate cluster analysis whichresulted in 4 clusters. This technique required the choice of asimilarity measure and the clustering algorithm. The resultobtained were represented by a dendogram that representsclusters of seminaries cities. Demand models correlating tripsand job variableswere developed for each cluster. Finally, thisarticle has pointed out that the partition of cities using variablessuch as jobs has revealed to be the most coherent with theobserved data, rather than a model that considers cities in theCMR indistinctively.
