Nonlinear Analysis of Structures Cable - Truss

Abstract—This paper aims to propose a mixed algorithm to simulate the interaction between cable-truss; the study is focused on the geometric nonlinear analysis since the cables always have nonlinear behavior under static loads. By using lagrangian formulations, it is determined the nonlinear stiffness matrices from the elements cable and truss, which are assembled to a structure on a global reference system. The balance of the structures under the action of external loads is solved by an iterative incremental method, which highlights the secant method; which gets better approaches to the solution with a smaller increase in loads. The solution algorithms are implemented with matlab.
