Abstract—Limited proportion of open space compared to
building area on house-lots in housing district is suspected a
trend in Indonesian housing. Several contiguous housing in
Sidoarjo Regency, Indonesia, comprises of low-to-medium and
medium-to-high class housing was studied to learn on the trend.
It concluded that 100% respondents were significantly proven
to have insufficient private open space toward 0%. The study
proved that respondents possess sufficient awareness but
limited knowledge on the necessity of private open space.
